we organized this years trip to the famous coral reefs on Isla Verde in April’s Good Friday this year . Family and friends , Captain Manolo and crew were attending as well . We chose the west end of the island for the calmer flow and less wind . These reefs have a lot to offer and are clean compared to reefs downstream from resorts .
The island has been cleaned along the shore and it shows improvement even in resort areas . Many new resorts have opened since we were here two years ago , beautifully set views of Mindoro and Pingloy from most along the southern beaches . we’d like to state here how tourism has grown across the straight in Lobo . The reef there is equal to those found around Isla Verde and popular vote suggests comparable fish species as well as coral types . Lobo has shown care along it’s beaches , placing trash drums around resorts as well . Ratings poll these spots as in the top ten clean spots within the Philippine Islands .
We brought children along for the tour . Protected from breeze and current it makes a great spot for children of all ages to enjoy the beauty under the surf . The coral was multi-colored . The sun was bright aiding to bring pictures as luminescent as a camera can be . Seeing for yourself is always the best treat though .
We had planned an extended expedition to Pingloy but found it closed due to over population and pollution such as Boracay last year . We are confident the cleanup will be quick and efficient . As we’ve seen in Lobo and Isla Verde the conscious people are working to eliminate waste and plastics throughout the Philippines . This is a milestone .
